I’d like to confess that John French isn’t my real name, although John is my real middle name and French, well that worked quite well with John. My current employers wouldn’t be happy if they find out I am blogging [in an unrelated field to my employment] on the Internet, hence my Internet alter ego.

My aim with this blog is to provide you with information relating to protecting, maintaining and speeding up computer. Now the tips and advice are aimed at Windows XP users only mainly. They may work with Vista. I haven’t got Vista and won’t use it until XP isn’t supported any longer [Windows 98 - RIP]. If you have a Mac, well you don’t get half the problems us PC users endure.

I have built, tinkered, broken and then fixed computers for about 15 years now. I do own some IT certificates, but don’t work in IT any longer. I used to, but my health and bank balance didn’t agree with that line of work. I cannot stand a slow computer. There is no reason for a slow computer these days. I owned a ZX81 many years ago, I know what slowness is.

Lack of freely available knowledge and the infectious files spread over the Internet will drag your computer down unless you take action. I will suggest and distribute helpful freely available programs and knowledge, and sometimes good value programs that will protect and speed up your Windows XP computer. If you know of any better programs, then feel free to comment or drop me a line.

Also with this blog I will delve into the murky[?] world of Internet Marketing. I have had some success in this field to date. I now have more time available to me and have concentrated my efforts into making a part-time income, progressing onto a full-time income. This will enable me to work for myself not work for [cliché] “The Man” [/cliché].

I have designed a few websites for friends and have a couple websites on the Internet. I have taught myself HTML and CSS and have learnt how to use Photoshop and Dreamweaver. From buying a domain name, getting a hosting account, to designing graphics and getting an online presence, I have read many an ebook or course and put into action many plans. Some have prospered while some have failed. Failure is expected from time to time. Learning from failure is a key part of life, off and online.

My main focus will be with all things computer related and I will delve into the Internet marketing field every once in a while. So it’s a blog of two halves. Computer health Yin to the Internet Marketing Yang.

All constructive feedback is welcome. If you know better, tell me, but have some proof!
