What’s Happening in the World of Phorm?

Monday, June 16th, 2008

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. That intrusion buzzard circling in the sky, or Phorm as it’s more commonly known, has been busy keeping itself out of the headlines recently. BT [British Telecom] has yet to announce when it will [legally] start using Phorm on its customer base.
I said [...]

Credit Card Fraud Strikes Again

Friday, June 13th, 2008

British online retailers cottontraders.co.uk were hacked in early 2008 and allegedly [they won't release exact numbers] 38,000 customers credit card details were accessed. Apparently all the data was encrypted and all affected customers were informed of credit card fraud violation.
What this highlights is that buying products over the Internet is as dangerous as buying something [...]

Windows Sysinternals Is a Useful Collection of Utilities

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

I came across this handy Microsoft [shock, horror!] utilities website recently and thought it was very handy indeed.

There are many handy tools available from checking your internal system clock, monitoring DLL files in real-time [that has been at the top of my list of things to monitor, sort of, well ok not really, but I [...]

Another Free Program To Block Phorm

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Another tool to block Phorm has been released for Windows computers. It’s called AntiPhorm Lite. The spiel from the website states:
“AntiPhorm Lite runs independently and silently in the background of your PC. It connects to the web and intelligently simulates natural surfing behaviour across thousands of customizable topics. This creates a background noise of false [...]

Virgin Media Phorm Update

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

I haven’t contacted Virgin Media about my broadband account yet, as they seemed to have changed their minds about Phorm.
Top technology website The Register states that Virgin Media Distances itself from Phorm. They quote “Virgin Media today sought to publicly clarify its relationship with Phorm, amid concerns that spin from the controversial ISP adware company [...]

Stop Phorm With This Handy Firefox Plug-In

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I have written enough stuff about Phorm so far, so I won’t go on about it too much in this post. I came across a handy Firefox plug-in that claims to stop Phorm’s cookies being able to be installed on your computer. The plug-in is called Dephormation.
I have installed it and apart from the odd [...]

Phorm Is Bad

Monday, April 28th, 2008

I found this video on YouTube. It’s 6 mins long and explains very well the threat that Phorm will have on us all as it slowly worms it’s way into the large ISP’s in the UK and possibly beyond.

Anti-Phorm Petition

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

The “Phorm Storm” is raging hard and fast. A petition against it is available at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ispphorm/
I have signed it and will shortly be speaking to Virgin Media who provide my broadband connection. If you conduct a search for “stop phorm” via a search engine you will see a huge amount of results. 99.9% of it [...]

Phorm, Again - Part III

Friday, April 25th, 2008

The “Phorm Storm” [I may just © that] continues to rumble closer and closer. According to the BBC Phorm could be automatically blocked by some security systems.
The BBC also states “So far three net firms, BT, Virgin and Carphone Warehouse, have signed up for Phorm. Carphone Warehouse has said its customers will have to opt [...]

Phorm May Have To Offer Opt-In

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Phorm is here to stay unfortunately. Click this link to read more about this data invasion company who ‘wish’ to sell to us like we’re brain dead zombies.
Hopefully the company launching Phorm will be forced into making it an opt-in process, rather than an opt-out process.
