Phorm Gets Investigated and Take a Share Price Hammering

The City of London police are investigating as to whether the 2006/2007 trials that BT completed without their customers permission are worth pursuing.

Phorm’s share prices have also taken a hammering and their share price of £35.04 back in Feb 08 has tumbled to £5.80 as of 4th Sept 08. Karma works in mysterious ways.

Phorm are also still in communication with BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk as to when they will start using the Phorm system to deliver targeted adverts to their customer base.

Virgin Media have said they have no date in mind as to when they will implement Phorm into their network, but insisted that it will be an opt-in process for their customers. Thank the lord for small mercies I suppose.

The current economic downturn in the US and UK has also hit Phorm and in conjunction with technical problems they have delayed further trials of their system.

I have moved away from Virgin Media as my broadband provider. This was mainly due to moving home. I did have the option of continuing my broadband connection with Virgin but I decided to use the current connection in the house I have moved into.

The fact that Virgin Media are considering forcing Phorm on me did make the decision to cut my contract with them a lot easier.

If you are still with one of the above, then I would ensure that you at least read up on the ISP’s website their intended plans with Phorm or even speak to a humanoid who may be able to offer some crumb of information for you.
