The Phorm Has Landed

BT have officially launched Phorm in the UK as of 30th Sept 2008. The City of London Police found no wrong doing with BT’s secret trials 2 years ago. Which is good news for us, as this means spying and stalking anybody we feel like is ok. The Police won’t prosecute or bother you with an arrest warrant. Oh wait a minute, we’re just Joe Public and we’d get busted in a flash.

Apparently you will be given the option to opt-out of the Phorm or Webwise as it’s now being sold as [Webwise! a paradox surely?] and you won’t be asked to opt out again until you clear all of your cookie files.

Or you could as suggested here [12th paragraph down], “the only way to decline the invitation permanently is to set all your browsers to block cookies from the domain webwise.net”. So there you go, there’s one way to block Webpain Webwise.

It was inevitable that Phorm would get the go ahead. It will soon be rolled out to other ISP’s and then the USA and other developed nation. Millions of Internet savvy people will be bombarded with adverts that align with their searching and browsing habits.

I’ll leave you with this paragraph that explains exactly what Phorm/Webwise does from BT themselves:

Webwise as a fraud prevention service, which uses its ability to track the web pages you visit to warn you if you are visiting a dubious or fake website. Also Phorm personalises the online advertising you see when browsing on participating websites by linking adverts to your interests“.

What a load of old %$&^^! Remember the badphorm site is a good way to combat Phorm.
